Chai brown, the brown of milky tea, over the whole outfit; it's the kind of color a room settles around. Browns lean warm or cool from one dye lot to the next, so the kurta and pants were dyed together in one vat on one day. The warmth never splits between top and bottom, and you never have to think about it.
Against the skin the cloth is light enough to forget, and it breathes like the fine cotton it is. It's spun so fine that Lucknow's finest embroiderers save it for their best work. Like all the finest cottons it's sheer; bare skin under it is fine for practice, and a slip under it covers fully.
Fit & feel
Relaxed cut through the kurta, with a straight fall. The pants sit on an elastic waist. The cloth is Swiss voile, and both pieces soften with every wash. Cold wash, shade dry. Bought as a set, it's $10 less than the pieces separately.
Fine Swiss voile cotton or a 50-50 linen-cotton weave, depending on the piece. All natural fibre, light enough to move with the air. It softens with every wash.
Hand-dyed with natural dyes in small batches. Shades vary a little from lot to lot. We think that's the point.
Three people make everything we sell. Two stitch by hand. One runs the dye vats. We don't hold a warehouse: your piece is cut, stitched, and finished after you order it, and reaches you in about four weeks.
At the heart of our Dharma is Aparigraha, non-excess. Making each garment to order is how we practice it. Nothing is overproduced. Nothing waits in storage. Thank you for practicing it with us.
