Historic Indian painting depicting ten yogis in various asanas and tapas practices — a visual homage to ancient yogic discipline and devotion.

    Who we are

I was raised in a family where yoga was a way of life. My mornings began with asanas and mantra recitations, surrounded by elders who lived simply, studied in gurukuls, and wore loose, breathable cottons that whispered of the land and spirit.

At 18, I moved West and was struck by the paradox: while yoga had traveled the world, the clothes worn in its name had forgotten their roots. Tight synthetics. Loud patterns. Chemical dyes. Something essential was missing.

Close-up of Shanti Chola label on Saffron Sunrise pants — linen cotton fabric with gathered waistband, hand-dyed in radiant yellow tones.

So Shanti Chola was born. A call to reconnect with the values at the heart of the yogic path: simplicity, breath, nature, and presence.

Shanti means peace. Chola means garb. We make clothes for people who want what they wear to agree with what they practice.

Three people make everything we sell.

Two stitch by hand. One runs the dye vats. We don't hold a warehouse: your piece is cut, stitched, and dyed after you order it, and reaches you in about four weeks. At the heart of our Dharma is Aparigraha, non-excess. Making each garment to order is how we practice it.

The cloth is hand-dyed cotton and linen, sun-dried, in colors that come from the earth. Shades drift a little from dye lot to dye lot. We think that's the point.

Sevā means service. Every piece you order funds five meals at the Ganeshpuri girls' program, near the village our practice comes from.
