The same green, twice.
Mehndi is the Hindi word for henna, and this is the deep green of the paste before it stains. The whole outfit holds that one green because the kurta and pants were dyed together, in the same vat, on the same day. You dress, you look once, and there is nothing to second-guess.
The cotton is spun so fine that Lucknow's finest embroiderers save it for their best work. On bare skin it barely registers, and it keeps breathing through ninety minutes in a hot room. It is sheer; light passes through it. Wear it bare for practice, or add a layer underneath when you want more cover.
Fit & feel
The kurta is cut relaxed and falls straight. The pants have an elastic waist. The cloth is Swiss voile, and both pieces soften with every wash. Cold wash, shade dry. The set costs $10 less than the two pieces bought separately.
Fine Swiss voile cotton or a 50-50 linen-cotton weave, depending on the piece. All natural fibre, light enough to move with the air. It softens with every wash.
Hand-dyed with natural dyes in small batches. Shades vary a little from lot to lot. We think that's the point.
Three people make everything we sell. Two stitch by hand. One runs the dye vats. We don't hold a warehouse: your piece is cut, stitched, and finished after you order it, and reaches you in about four weeks.
At the heart of our Dharma is Aparigraha, non-excess. Making each garment to order is how we practice it. Nothing is overproduced. Nothing waits in storage. Thank you for practicing it with us.
